  • Geochemical mapping of the Bornholm Basin\nEnvironmental geochemical monitoring in the western Baltic Sea (BLMP)\nMiscellaneous experiments in the Gotland Basin\nThe main objective of the cruise was to obtain surface sediment samples and short sediment cores (up to 50 cm long) for later sedimentological and geochemical analyses in the homelabs of the IOW. Sediment sampling was realized by using a multicorer device. Additionally a series of CTD profiles were measured and water samples were obtained to analyze chemical parameters (nutrients). With help of a special under water video camera system we observed the sea floor at 6 selected stations in the Gotland Basin. This experiment was performed to investigate the patterns, structure and colours of bacteria colonization of the sediment surface in the suboxic and anoxic environment of the deep Gotland Basin.
